Here is a video piece I have been working on, tentatively titled Die Blumen Sind Schön (which was one of the main things my mother learned to say in German when living in Germany). It is constructed from vhs garden footage that my uncle shot in 1994-95. I reshot it and changed some of the speed, framing, etc. Still a work in progress, thinking about whether I should add audio or not.
I will be showing some new installations based on family collections. Totally outside of the box for me! The work is up with the clever and talented Erika Ritzel, whose photographs and personal collections will be on display. Hope you can make it out!
I am having a few paintings in the Overlook Gallery at the Phipps in Hudson, WI. The pieces in the show are night paintings of the St. Croix river, which runs just in front of the gallery. I will update with pictures of the work, but here is the postcard. The reception is tonight (Friday, Jan 30) from 6:30-8:30.
Over the summer, I collaborated with the hilarious John Jodzio to print a small edition of some of his stories. I did a few illustrations that you can see below - super fun! My respect for bookmakers has skyrocketed. That shit is hard.
